Light is essential for plants and has a major influence on their growth and well-being.

What kind of light do plants need and like? 

Although the most powerful and cheapest source of light is the sun, natural sunlight is not always and not everywhere available, and sometimes needs to be supplemented or replaced by artificial light that mimics it.  

The spectral sensitivities of plants and humans are quite different: while animals and humans like green and yellow wavelengths, plants prefer blue and red ones, depending on their growth phase, to best support photosynthesis.  

Blue spectrum light promotes vegetative growth, while red spectrum light promotes flower onset and production. The ideal lighting situation for the indoor growth room would therefore be to use these two different wavelengths during the early stages and the flowering phase. Besides the right light spectrum, plants also need the right light intensity for an appropriate growth, commonly measured by the photon flux, i.e. units of micromoles per square meter per second, that indicates how much light energy is available for plants to use in photosynthesis.

Why LED lighting for growing plants?

During autumn and wintertime some plants might receive too little light, this resulting in a not favourable and longer growth cycle. On the other hand, enormous amounts of energy may be wasted in greenhouses as a result of the plants receiving too much or the wrong kind of light. This can also stress and damage them.

Compared to standard HID (high intensity discharge) or HPS (high pressure sodium) lamps, LED lighting systems have been considered also by NASA Researchers as the best and most efficient option for indoor farming, as they provide optimal levels of Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR)— photons that enhance growth and yield without wasting energy.  

Thanks to a selection and combination of the most suitable wavelengths according to the type of plant, growth and development stage, they enable a significant increase in crop production.

Is the sun light sufficient in winter?  

No, the sun light in winter is not sufficient for the well being of the plants. In wintertime, an integration is needed because the number of sunny days drops and the intensity of the light that the plants receive is lower than in summer.  

What are the benefits of using LED lamps? 

The benefits of using LED lamps are manifold: the distribution of the light on the cultivated surface is perfect, the plants receive the correct type of light, so they appear and are healthier production cycle time is reduced, plant growth is controlled, costs are reduced in comparison to HID (high intensity discharge) or HPS (high pressure sodium) lamps.  

Is the LED light useful to plants?  

Yes, because LED lamps emit a light whose wavelength is decided according to the necessity of the specific plant typology and on the growth stage of the plant. Ambralight LED lamps can be modified to supply the best light for each typology of plant and for each production stage.  

Is LED light sufficient to plants or is it necessary to have other additional systems (refrigeration, watering etc.)?  

No, it is not sufficient. In indoor cultivation, you will also need a heating and watering system that with Ambralight can be placed on the surface of the cultivated area or above it.

It is very easy to install them. You could even do it on your own. We still suggest the help of an electrician that knows how to connect cables correctly.

Ambralight has the CE certification. This ensures that our lamps are highly reliable and demonstrates that the materials used are of a certain type and quality  

Is there an after sales service?

What is your average delivery time?
